দায়িত্ব ও প্রেক্ষাপট (Job Context and Responsibilities)

The Context :

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is implementing the European Union and European Commission PROACT project Bangladesh: “Resilience Strengthening through Agri-Food Systems Transformation in Cox’s Bazar”. The objective of the project is to improve food security, increase nutritional levels and improve incomes among farming households in Cox’s Bazar Sador, Ramu, Ukhiya and Teknaf sub-districts of Cox’s Bazar district. The project will support crop production, fish farming and sustainable toxin-free dried fish production with underlying support for value chain development, market access and better incomes, including business and financial literacy.

 Purpose of job:

The overall objective of this assignment is to identify, assess, and recommend innovative, climate-smart, and locally appropriate fish drying technologies that are technically feasible, affordable, and ready for pilot implementation in Cox’s Bazar.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an inception report entailing a desk review report: literature review and methodology on primary data collection and work plan including primary data sources. Inception report includes questions for interviews, questionnaire for quantitative data, others if needed, etc.

  • Prepare data collection tools and techniques both quantitative and qualitative for the assessment and validate them with Mukti Cox's Bazar and FAO

  • Obtain necessary ethical clearances and institutional permissions if applicable

  • Conduct a pilot/field test of tools before full-scale data collection

  • Collect data ensuring data quality

  • Develop a comprehensive draft report based on the assessment objectives.

  • Share the draft report with Mukti Cox’s Bazar and FAO , incorporate feedback and suggestion on draft report

  • Organize validation workshop at Cox’s Bazar with the relevant stakeholders such as but not limited to workers, traders, processors, retailers, toxic free dried fish retailers, relevant government officials, chamber of commerce, NGO and UN officials. Present the draft report in the workshop for feedback.

  • Incorporate feedback from the validation workshop and finalize the assessment report

  • Prepare user-friendly capacity development training module (in English and Bangla) tailored to the literacy levels and practical needs of end users.

  • Submit the final report of the assessment, including all clean data set.

  • Any other duties as per project and organization requirement.

  • Safeguarding: Safeguarding and PSEA: To meet the program's objectives for safeguarding and PSEA implementation, make sure team members are protected from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation. serve as a major resource for help, direction, and knowledge on safeguarding & Child protection for developing a safe workplace. To ensure that safeguarding standards are used in every course of action, team members should practice, advocate, and embrace safeguarding policy concerns.

যোগ্যতা ও অভিজ্ঞতা

শিক্ষাগত যোগ্যতা (Education):

  • MS in Aquaculture/ Fish Technology/ Fisheries Management from any Reputed University.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in aquaculture, dry fish, and market development programs.

  • Preference will be given those have experience conduction of assessment, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, highly expert on assessment report development, strong linkage with DoF, expert on training module development and training facilitation.

অভিজ্ঞতা (Experience):

  • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO

  • Age At most 55 years

  • Sound knowledge on using different software related to data entry, data analysis and quantities and qualitative report  development·      

  • Ability to work hard, work under pressure, positive and can-do attitude and ability to understand local language.      

  • Self-motivated, independent of the ability to perform multi-task.      

  • Sound knowledge of essential software like MS Word and MS Excel related to data entry.    

  • Knowledge in gender focused approach to development and resilience.    

  • Expertise on undertaking and follow up monitoring to ensure that proposed mitigation measures are implemented according to an agreed upon environmental and social mitigation implementation plan.    

  • Proven understanding and knowledge on development sector including work related to program and budget planning/monitoring activities.    

  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.·     Ensure that gender and inclusion issues are properly considered and resourced in all of our work.    

  • Experience in organizing knowledge and learning sharing events involving community, practitioners and researchers and policy makers.   

  • Strong communication, report writing and presentation skill in Bangla and English.    

  • Demonstrated capacity to work with teams.    

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills in Bangla and English

In continuation of that, Mukti Cox’s Bazar is seeking " Senior Specialist- Aquaculture (Appropriate fish drying technology identification & validation)” for project titled " Promoting Nutrition-Sensitive Farming, Toxin-Free Dried Fish Production, and Strengthening Market Access and Value Chains for Host Communities in Cox’s Bazar". The project will be in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The working location of this project is Cox’s Bazar Sador, Ramu, Ukhiya and Teknaf sub-districts of Cox’s Bazar district.
